Tyler Froatz Jr., the heavily armed member of the Herndon Minutemen arrested after assaulting individuals at last week's immigrant rights' rally in Malcolm X Park was rightly denied bond by a DC Superior Court judge on Friday, May 4. Froatz came to the May Day rally, armed with a stun gun, a 12 inch knife, a claw hammer, and a flare gun on his person. After assaulting an organizer of the rally, and insulting many of those present, Froatz returned to his car, containing a loaded rifle, binoculars, literature about killing immigrants, and maps of the park where the rally was taking place. Upon returning to the rally in camouflage, he was arrested by the US Park Police. After his arrest, numerous weapons were found in Froat'z NW apartment, at 5320 8th St NW, Apt. 107. Judge James Boasberg cited Froatz's large number of illegal weapons and his 'looking for trouble' at the immigrants rights' rally as reasons for holding him without bond.
