Mary Spencer (the referendum proposer) is asking that everyone willing to help organize this effort (signature gathering for a referendum on the school takeover) meet her for a strategy meeting this Thursday evening, May 24, from 6-7:30pm, at DC ACORN, a few blocks from the Eastern Market Metro, at 739 8th Street SE.

8 HOUSING VOUCHERS PROVIDING AFFORDABLE HOUSING

The District of Columbia Grassroots Empowerment Project (EmpowerDC), a community based membership organization, will
hold its regular Affordable Housing Forum, Thursday, May 24, 2007, 6:30 pm at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church located at 19 "Eye" Street, NW, Washington, DC.

The Forum, entitled, "Section 8 Housing Vouchers: Are They Useful? Can They Be Fixed and Preserved?", will address several major issues threatening the effectiveness and future prospect of the federally subsidized housing voucher program.
