Mayor Adrian Fenty, in his attempt to take power from the elected Board of Education, without consulting DC voters, has now taken his drive for power to the courts.

Seeking to halt the referendum process for the proposed referendum measure put forth by DCPS grandmother and graduate Mary Spencer, Mr. Fenty chose to wait until the end of a 10 day challenge period (allowed for public challenges to the proposed referendum), so as to further delay the referendum process. Now, his challenge will be heard in court.

We still hope to receive the petitions to begin gathering signatures for a referendum on Wednesday morning. For more information on how you can help gather signatures, please see www.letmevote.org

Please join us in court on Wednesday, June 6 at 9:30 AM in Courtroom 312 of the Moultrie Building of DC Superior Court (500 Indiana Avenue NW; the main building) to support our right to have a say in our children's education.
